Snatchers World Premiere at the Brooklyn Film Fest

Greetings everyone! Hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy during these uncertain times.

Some exciting news in the midst of all this chaos… Snatchers, the indie sci-fi alien invasion comedy is having its world premiere this summer at the 2020 Brooklyn Film Festival as part of its streaming edition lineup. The festival usually occurs at venues in Greenpoint and Williamsburg, but that obviously won’t be happening when the 23rd edition rolls out from May 29th to June 7th. Instead, over 140 films will be presented online. The best part is: the movies can be screened for FREE so long as you register at Brooklyn Film Festival’s website.

Directed by Brooklyn native John Kingman, Snatchers is about “gentrification, immigration, and a relentless monolithic hegemony. Plus, comedy?” Its “invisible enemy” theme (how will the alien-fighters “tell the difference between a Snatcher and a regular Brooklyn weirdo?”) is obviously pretty timely right now, and central to the Brooklyn Film Festival’s theme this year: Turning Point. “The fear of the ‘invisible danger’ that threatens our life is radically modifying our own life routine and the way we deal with our neighbors,” BFF executive director Marco Ursino explains in the press release. “It is a ‘Turning Point’ in history.”

Ali filmed his role as Ami, one of two suspicious bodega store employees, back in 2018 and cannot wait for everyone to finally see this movie.
